Community-based healthy-aging project
We hosts community events quarterly for older persons, creating awareness on preventing ageism and elder abuse, the importance of aging in place, and accessing healthy-aging clinics established in the community. This project is funded by Renewal Nigeria philanthropic real estate company.
Health-ageing clinic
We institute health-ageing clinics in hospitals that provide routine healthcare for older persons attending the clinic on schedule for healthcare and psychosocial support. This project is funded by Greenacre healthcare services, Texas United States.
Training
We work with expert trainers to train caregivers, community volunteers and service providers to care for their older persons. This project is supported with training materials from National Institute on Ageing, US.
Operation Sponsor an elderly project
Through the operation sponsor an elderly project, older persons who are unable to subscribe and pay for annual health insurance coverage are provided free subscription through the Vital Contributory Social Health Insurance Program of the Nigeria health insurance scheme/authority. This is supported by community philanthropists and cooperation through social services.
Legal support
Working with legal agencies by advocacy and volunteerism, older persons identified to have safety and legal issues are linked to legal solicitors who supports resolution and prosecution in line with the law.
Household Economic Strengthening (HES) project
Through this project, older persons or their caregivers are supported to start and thrive in an income generating activities to provide and maintain source of livelihood. This is funded by membership subscriptions and donations from community members through ‘’community funding older persons in their community.
Advocacy project
Mission to Elderlies Foundation partners with other NGOs working on rights of older persons through an umbrella organization known as Coalition of Societies for the Rights of Older Persons in Nigeria (COSROPIN), to meet government institutions like Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Senior Citizen Center and Nation Health Insurance Authority to advocate for rights of elders.
Research Project on ageing
To make data available for national and international use, Mission to Elderlies Foundation conducts researches in partnership with Centre for Translational and Implementation Research (CTAIR).
